How the test works
A drop of used engine oil carries a lot of information. As it spreads through the test card, it leaves a pattern that says something about the oil's condition. EngineIQ reads that pattern for you.
Five steps from dipstick to report

Add one drop of oil
Use the dipstick to put a single drop of engine oil in the circle on the card, as the instructions show.

Let it develop
The drop spreads through the card. Leave it for the time given in the instructions.

Scan it at a testing point
Take the card to an EngineIQ testing point, such as a partner garage or kiosk, and scan it.

Read your report
Your report arrives by email, with a plain-English explanation of what it indicates.
Why a single drop is enough
Putting a drop of oil on absorbent paper and looking at how it spreads is a long-established way of checking oil condition. Clean oil spreads evenly; oil that's carrying contamination or has broken down tends to leave distinct zones and rings.
